The world lost some of its sunshine yesterday when we learned of the passing of long-time Eagle Leather and Fantastic: The Party collaborator, our resident photographer Steve Scalone.
Steve was one of the warmest, kindest, and hardest working people we have ever had the luck to work with, and his talent was absolutely immense. Over the last decade of working with Steve, he became an integral part of our Eagle Leather family.His work can be seen throughout our website and in framed pictures around our store, in all of our marketing and all of the campaigns for Fantastic: The Party and Fantastic: The Abyss since their inception.
We worked on so many shoots with Steve over the years and no matter the amount of pressure we put on him (mostly from our lack of organisation or trying to shoot too many looks!) he never stopped smiling and laughing.He had a magnetic presence and was forever positive, gentle and supportive to everyone on set, making models and helpers feel at ease and valued, creating magic and sharing energy with everyone around him.But more than anything, he was an incredible friend and mentor.
Here is what BJ had to say about the loss of this inspiration man: "Steve will live on through so much of his work, and in our memories always. We need to honour such a great man. He was naturally nurturing and the way he worked with us all gave us confidence to believe in ourselves, whether behind the scenes or in front of the camera. I know that anyone who spent any time on a shoot with Steve will be feeling the recent news.Let's remember him in all his greatness and for all the positive energy he sent out into the world."
